Installs, operates, maintains, and repairs a variety of electronic equipment used for research, instructional, or plant operations activities and supervises other technician personnel in such duties. Troubleshoots and repairs electronic circuits; locates and replaces defective components and makes necessary adjustments and calibrations; tests suspect circuits, modules and components, using oscilloscope and other instruments to diagnose defects; repairs faulty connections and adjusts, repairs, and replaces defective electronic, electromechanical, or mechanical components; performs preventive maintenance on various equipment; constructs, tests, and evaluates equipment and processes; maintains laboratory equipment and instructs students in the proper use of equipment; establishes and oversees standard operating procedures; performs research tasks; maintains adequate stocks; designs electronic circuitry; repairs and supervises repair of various electronic equipment; calibrates and commissions new instruments; selects, inspects, installs, and maintains miscellaneous electronic equipment. Works with Structural Engineering faculty to setup and assist with academic laboratory sessions for the sensor-related courses (undergraduate and graduate). Maintain and organize laboratory equipment and instrumentation in the sensor lab; and performs related duties as required.
High school graduation or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
Four years as an electronics technician.
